An Annual Affair
The Random Cup
We’ll be returning to the “Cradle of American Golf,” Pinehurst, NC, to compete for the greatest prize in modern sports...The Random Cup. Pinehurst has upped their game once again to lure the the 2024 Random Cup back by hosting some supposedly prestigious feeder tournament just over a month before the true gem takes center stage. This year will feature three certain Hall of Famers who are all 3-time Random Cup Champions. Will Stovie, Gino and Jeremy continue their absolute stranglehold on the Cup (winning of 9 of 11) or will a new champ rise from the ashes?

“The Arches”
Random Cup headquarters since 2016, “The Arches” was built between 1917 and 1918 by the owners of Dixie Crystal Sugar. It was restored to its original design between 1996 and 1998. There is a “loggia” on the back of the house that overlooks a small pond (Gary’s lap pool), and the classic front porch features rocking chairs to enjoy the view. The house is three blocks from famous Pinehurst No. 2.

PARTICIPANTS
MD v. Carolinas
The tradition of the Random Cup is to select the best degenerate golfers, gamblers and drinkers from Maryland and the Carolinas for a war for bragging rights. Maryland has had a strangle hold on the Cup since its inception in 2013 with only a single victor hailing from the Carolinas’ Region. See the full list of participants for this year’s Random Cup here.

“The Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area has a storied legacy of golf unlike any other place in the country. In 2014 we made golf history again when the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open Championships were played back-to-back on the same golf course for the first time ever. However, this “accomplishment” pales in comparison to our honor in having hosted the Random Cup since 2016. The presence of the Random Cup has truly put our sleepy little southern town on the sports map.” - Pinehurst Chamber of Commerce
